A good friend of mine (Robert
Farmer) collects hand-made rugs from around the world. The images above are linked
to a medium sized image and the large image text beeside the pic is linke to
the largest size image (600 pixels wide). Here is what he says about this rug.
It's a hand tied (woven) 110KPSI (Knots Per Square Inch) Goochan. Goochan is
the
name of the village in Iran. The rug is aproximately 4' x 5' 8".
Tribal, Kazak related, this is a "Dragon" type of design. The green
and
white symbols at the ends (that look somewhat like trees) are stylized "Tree
of Life". The "hooks" are called hatchli and are supposed to
represent pine
needles.
The rosettes are representative of flowers from the Garden of Eden. The
stars are of the Kazak nobility. Being a small war-like tribe situated
between large Moslem and Larger Christian nations (perpetually at war), the
Kazak nobility natually converted to Judaism. Go Figure.
An equivalent rug would be fairly priced at a local rug boutique around 800$.
I will sell it for 300$. I have a paypal account, so email me if you
are interested! John@Johnart.com. This rug can be shipped by
the next day, once payment and info are confirmed. Shipped to any address in
the lower 48 states only.
